Finance Manager | Lombard Park District

The Lombard Park District is seeking a full-time Finance Manager. Under the supervision of the Director of Finance and Personnel, the Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting and computer operations of the Park District and supporting the Director of Finance and Personnel. This position oversees the Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist and Finance Assistant.
Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesFinance Functions- Reviews and posts journal entries to the general ledger for month and year end.
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
- Prepares quarterly account reconciliations.
- Prepares the payroll and bills report for the monthly board packet.
- Assists the Director of Finance and Personnel with journal entries, research, and schedules required for annual audit.
- Resolve credit card chargebacks.
- Review weekly AP vouchers for accuracy.
- Files monthly Retailer’s Occupation Tax and prepares AP voucher.
- Coordinates cash spot audits at the golf course, pool, and athletic center.
- Proofs bi-weekly payroll with Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist.
- Prepares quarterly 941 filings.
- Assist with and review yearly 1099s and W-2s.
Computer Operations- Acting as the District’s computer system coordinator in conjunction with outsourced IT; contacts software and hardware vendors when necessary.
- Setting computer systems up for nightly backups of transactions and maintaining backup tapes.
- Assisting co-workers with computer-related questions and problems.
- Attending training sessions on software.
- Setting up codes in VSI point of sale, for the golf course, pool, and athletic center.
QualificationsA bachelor’s degree in accounting or a comparable combination of accounting coursework and governmental fund accounting experience. Must have three years’ relevant work experience, public sector experience preferred. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel and possess the ability to speak in public, with good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work within time deadlines.
The Finance Manager is in a full-time exempt position working 40 hours per week. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Some evenings when needed.
Compensation and BenefitsThe hiring salary range is $60,000 + DOQ. We offer a competitive compensation benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending account, 457 plan(s), IMRF pension, tuition reimbursement, vacation, holidays, sick time, and personal days.
